Since 2004, The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, Ltd. have organized The International Architecture Awards as a way in which to honor the best, significant new buildings, landscape architecture, and planning projects designed and/or built around the world’s leading architects, landscape architects, and urban planners practicing nationally and internationally. The International Architecture Awards give an important global overview of the current aesthetic direction of today’s commercial, corporate, institutional, and residential work to the real estate, banking, business, and corporate community, as well as to the press and general public worldwide.
The program is one of the Museum’s most important public education outreach initiatives produced throughout the year-to the Museum’s international audience.
The International Architecture Awards are dedicated to the recognition of excellence in architecture and urbanism from a global point-of-view.
The program pays tribute to new developments in design and underscores the directions and understanding of current cutting-edge processes consistent with today’s design thinking.
This year’s program honors new (2023-2024) corporate, institutional, commercial, residential architecture, interiors, and urban planning, designed for both built and unbuilt projects alike.
All submissions must be the work of international architects and architectural firms either working nationally or internationally for projects both in their respective countries and abroad. U.S. architecture firms headquartered inside or outside the United States are eligible to enter projects built or to be built, in the U.S. and around the world.
Extended date for 2025 application is December 7, 2024.
FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION FORM
In order to apply you need to visit awardapplication.com Organization Page. You need to create an account applying all your company information. All required fields must be filled in. After a successful application you will receive an email with a unique ID number for your submission, a pre-invoice for your submission and a pdf document with all information in case you choose to pay with bank transfer. All final invoices are sending to all clients periodically after we check all transactions passed through correctly. You can always log in to your account to see passed submissions or download your passed invoices.
Criteria for submissions includes any commercial, corporate, institutional, or residential building type or urban planning project, built or unbuilt worldwide, designed or built after January 1, 2023. For example, a building can be designed before the 1st January 2023 but be due to be completed after 1st January 2023 and still be eligible to enter.

All information submitted will be included in all online presentation, exhibition and Award publication catalogue. Please ensure that possible changes or mistakes according to credits, images and project description may incur costs. During your submission please advise all examples given in every section to ensure all credit details filled in correctly.
Project Description
All project descriptions should be edited in English, should be ready to use in any type of online presentation or publication and should not be more than 400-500 words. There is a specific text tab to include it when submitting so please do not forward it with email or any other way to us.

Building types and categories are: corporate headquarters and office facilities, retail, hospitality, institutional, health care, government, transportation, educational, and residential and interiors of any kind, including renovations and restorations, landscape architecture, and urban planning projects. Previously awarded buildings are not eligible.
A jury of recognized design practitioners, business professionals, educators, and critics review the submissions and select winning projects for awards. Previous juries have been held under the auspicious of the following professional associations: The Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, The Union of Architects of Russia, The Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA), and The American Institute of Architects. Each Submission is Juried Anonymously.
The Online Award Archive is the main resource for the academic community, journalists, critics and creative offices in the design industry. The online presentation of all award-winning products of The International Architecture Award, contributes to public knowledge enhancement as respective info remains online and is easily accessible.
The European Centre of Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies together with The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture Art and Design organise dedicated exhibitions for each Award Program every year. This is a great opportunity for all the selected projects to increase their reputation and spread the word on current architecture trends around the globe.
